I can proofread but like you nothing substantial. In grad school, one of professors told me to read from the end and go backwards. It takes longer but it definetly helped in editing my papers. I try to do that whenever I can so I can pick up on more mistakes.Amynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3747656814607537842.post-65392010855056345412010-08-24T14:37:05.297-05:002010-08-24T14:37:05.297-05:00Sounds like they run a tight ship at your office.Sounds like they run a tight ship at your office.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3747656814607537842.post-25781851104369199432010-08-24T12:10:49.573-05:002010-08-24T12:10:49.573-05:00I never learned to diagram sentences. Using a red pen to mark up other people's crap writing is my favorite. I generally go for readability and misspellings, as those are most important.Amiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00721719249825538218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3747656814607537842.post-31001793410049939472010-08-24T11:35:03.848-05:002010-08-24T11:35:03.848-05:00Learning a foreign language is great for understan...Learning a foreign language is great for understanding your native language better. Unfortunately, many people who had the kind of education you had are lost at first. I saw this over and over in a German class I took at the local community college. If you don't know the difference between a direct and an indirect object, all that blather about the dative and accusatve cases is going to go right over your head. But as I say, once you're forced to learn this stuff for a foreign language, you end up with a better command of English. Bonne chance!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3747656814607537842.post-87376921282814952082010-08-24T01:05:36.615-05:002010-08-24T01:05:36.615-05:00What's hard is when you're proofreading th...What's hard is when you're proofreading the work of someone whose first language is not english. They make mistakes that wouldn't even occur to you and it forces you to learn the basic principles of grammatical rules that you had taken for granted.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
