Model City

The scale model of Chicago at the Architectural Foundation is one of the coolest things I've been to recently.  The amount of time and effort that must have gone into making this thing is ridiculous.
I was probably there for a good half hour just reading all of the little signs, looking at my neighborhood and tracking down all of the Chicago landmarks I could remember.  Then, after reading that the lighting simulated the sun's path on the longest day of the year every 15 minutes, I had to stick around to look at the exhibit again with the lighting in mind.

Obviously, I also had to crouch down at "ground level" to take a picture of the Chicago skyline.  I had way too much fun at this exhibit.

  1. Wow, that model looks awesome! I think i need to go check it out next time I am in Chicago. It defiantly took a lot of time to construct it but you might be surprised by the technology they have to make model now a days and it was not as difficult as you may think. But who know, i have not seen it up close yet.

  2. I imagine you'll love it since you're into architecture. It's really conveniently located downtown on Michigan Ave. You should definitely check it out.

  3. I've seen that model. It is cool.

You should go to the top of the Sears Tower and stand on the transparent floor boxes extending out the side.

Your life would make a pretty good TV show. Maybe if you took a little case here or there it might be more interesting.

You should put on a suit and wait inside traffic court. Look at your watch and pretend that you are waiting for your client who is late. Random people will come up to you and ask "are you a lawyer?". Take a $100 and handle their ticket.

Go to a different traffic court each day so its not obvious. It's called "trolling".

If you could make $100 a day for 20 minutes work and then spend the rest of the day touring museums; it's not a bad life.
