Adding insult to injury

I have a cold.  I also have the hiccups.  Somehow, whenever I hiccup, my right ear pops (though it sounds more like a 'ping').  So, today's conversations have been going a lot like this:

Co-worker: How's it going?
Me: Eh, I have HICCUP!(ping) GOD DAMN IT!!  ...a cold.
Co-worker: Um...I'll come back later
