Road Trip

The other day, I went to Herrin, IL with my girlfriend.  She had to go there for work and I figured why not tag along?  Well, one reason I shouldn't have tagged along is because I was coming down with pneumonia.  Don't worry, that's already been pointed out by everyone I know.

Herrin is a really small town in southern Illinois.  To give you an idea of how far south we were in Illinois, check out this disturbingly large cross we passed, somewhere around Effingham.  I don't know if the picture gives a good size reference, but this thing is fucking huge.

While my girlfriend was working, I was wandering aimlessly around the town.  I was hoping that I'd come back with at least one interesting picture and I was not disappointed.  Let me present the Herrin VFW.  Yep, that's a helicopter.
Unfortunately, the rest of the town was pretty boring.  I couldn't even find an interesting diner where I could sit and have breakfast and I was really looking forward to eating in some unique little country restaurant.
