New job

I officially have a new job.  I start at the end of the month and it will be at the logistics company I was talking about in my last post.  This Friday, I'll be quitting my office supply job and taking a couple of weeks off before starting.  Watch out freight industry, here I come.

  1. Congrats! As a soon to be law school grad (biggest mistake of my life) I was just wondering if you could help me by answering 2 questions. When you applied for nonlegal jobs did you leave the JD off the resume? I've been sending some with and w/out the JD, but haven't seen a difference. For legal jobs I know ppl send in more than 1 pg resume. But what about for nonlegal jobs? Is the one pg resume still the rule? Thanks!

    1. Always use a 1pg resume. Anything else looks like you just graduated from high school and aren't ready for a real job.

I left the JD on my resume. I took it off for a while, but I just got tired of lying about what I did for 3 years.

  2. Congratulations!

On some level, reading through this blog is like following The Wire (minus the violence, drugs, and a cat like Omar). There was the school series, the law series, the unemployed series, the med supply series, now the freight series.

If there's a way to carry a shotgun and interact with some of your former colleagues at the Cook County building, I think this freight-thing could become literary gold.
